Etched Glass = Easy Gift Giving

I was looking thru a cabinet the other day for some Christmas CDs and came across this small, hand painted vase.  I was about to put it in the Goodwill box, but decided to improve it a bit.  It's not that I didn't like it, it's just that it could be so much prettier.   It's a busy time of year, so whatever I needed to do had to be quick and easy.  You don't need 3 guesses to know what I did........ yep, I filled it with etchall® dip'n etch.  It doesn't get much easier than that and I just love the "milk glass" look!

As you can imagine, it's not going in the Goodwill box.  It will be an amazing gift for a friend, or neighbour!

So, next time you find a glass container, decorated or not, fill it with dip'n etch for a simple and elegant, upscale look...

BTW, if you need to know how much dip'n etch you'll need to fill your glass container, fill it first with water, then pour the water into a measuring cup.  Dip'n etch comes in different sizes, but I use it a lot, so I buy the large container.  This etching product is re-usable, so after 15 minutes, pour it back into its container to use again, and again and again!  It lasts a very long time.  You can check the etchall Facebook page for holiday sale offers then purchase directly thru the "buy now" tab on their page, or click on their logo in my sidebar to go directly to the etchall website.  Enjoy!  Y'all come back now......

Yours truly,
Julie :)

Clearsnap & Smoothfoam Blog Hop

Thanks for checking out the Clearsnap/Smoothfoam blog hop - two great products teaming up for projects to inspire!
I've worked with Smoothfoam for a number of years now, and love how easy it is to decorate - no prep required!  I received some of Ann Butler's Crafter's ink pads from Clearsnap and decided to apply these directly to the surface of an 8" x 10" piece of Smoothfoam.  I used 3 colors to represent the sky, the grass and a carpet of flowers.  Once the ink had dried I added the dotted, faux texture with one of Ann's Faux Quilting stamps from Unity Crafts.

Now to add a photo and a saying.  I love experimenting with different mediums and products, so, instead of just adding a photograph, I scanned an old, black and white photo I had, then printed both the photo and a saying (mirror image) onto Craft Attitude film.  Not only did the background colors show thru, so did the slight texture of the smoothfoam.  Love it when a plan comes together.

My granddaughter loved it too and thought if I added some sparkly "jewels" it would look lovely in her room!  After all the colors were just right.  The swirly bling which she found in Nana's box of goodies was perfect.  The colors matched and believe it or not, she found matching faux metal nail heads on adhesive strips which we placed above and below the saying.

The best thing I like about this project and the products used was the fact that it took less than an hour to pull together.  In fact it took me longer to write this post than it did to make the project!  Of course, I did have a little help.....

Designer Crafts Connection - Crafting with School Supplies

If you came here to walk the CHA Paper Crafts show, it's the post below this one....

The kids go back to school in another 2-3 or weeks, so pretty much everyone is having a "Back to School" sale!  Not just clothes and shoes, but school supplies: markers, paper, folders, etc, etc.  Even if you don't need school supplies for school, this is a great time to stock up on journals, markers, paper and a whole lot more!  I saw that Staples is advertising composition books at .50 cents each - time to stock up I'd say.

Don't forget that "school supplies" are also craft supplies.  You can definitely make "school" type projects with them, but there's a bunch of other things you can use them for too.  Markers for doodling is an obvious choice, but I personally love the brightly colored glossy folders around .30 cents each.  That's like getting two sheets of glossy card stock which sells for a heck of a lot more in the craft store.  I usually stock up on 2 or 3 of each color and there are patterned folders too.  I used them last year to make tags and a small banner for a smash cake.  The note cards and popcorn boxes were also on sale.  Ten for a $1.00........   One can't help being creative with this stuff!

I couldn't resist the large boxes of crayons either and used them to cover cardboard "Velveeta" boxes, the bottom of a milk carton and a couple of empty cans - colorful storage options for my grandson's desk.

Don't let this sale pass you by.... you only have to walk into a big box store (Staples, Walmart, Office Depot, Container Store, etc) and you'll wonder why you haven't shopped for craft supplies there before.  You can also find great deals on adhesive sheets of paper and/or labels for printing your own stickers; magnetic sheets for fridge frames - the list goes on and on.  Enjoy!  Y'all come back now.........

Yours truly,
Julie :)
