Rinea Foil Projects

Rinea foil paper projects featured at Jean & Julie's Craft Club at the Pinners' Conference,                            Fort Worth, Texas, October 1-2, 2021

You will only need two, 4" x 6" pieces of Rinea double side paper foil to create both of these decorative projects!  This pre-cut size is available in the Artists pack. These samples feature two colors of the starstruck embossed paper foil, but glossy solid foil can also be used. You will also need extra strength glue stick, paper trimmer and scissors. Photo mounting squares work well for layering.

Start by cutting the Lavender paper into two pieces, 4"x 4" & 4 x 2" and the Fuchsia paper in half lengthways.

 Project #1 - Paper Twirl:

1. Fold the 4"x 4" square in half diagonally.

2. Fold in half again then cutting from the two, folded edges, make 4 cuts about 3/8" apart, parallel to the long, cut edge. Cut up to 1/4" from the thicker, folded edge.

3. Gently open up the folded square.  Starting at the center, gently pull the center tabs upwards, overlap the points and glue in place.  This is row 1.

4.  Repeat with rows 3 and 5.

5.  Turn the square over then repeat the process with rows 2 and 4.

6.  Attach thread to the top to hang - make 5 and glue together to create a star!

Project #2 - Flower Burst

1.  Cut each of the two pieces of foil in half lengthways to create four, 1"x 6" pieces.

2. Fold each piece in half, then cut down the center from the cut edge up to 1/2" from the folded edge. Unfold each piece then glue one piece across the center of a second piece as shown.

3.  Overlap one strip from adjacent sides and glue.  Repeat until you 4 petals.

4.  Repeat the process with the remaining pieces of foil.  Glue one on top of the other at the center.

5.  Cut the 2"x 4" lavender piece of foil in half lengthways to create two, 1"x 4" pieces.  Fold each piece in half, then cut down the center from the cut edge up to 1/2" from the folded edge. Unfold each piece then glue one piece across the center of the second piece as shown.  Create a small flower using the same process as in step 3 above.  Glue this smaller piece at the center of the fuchsia flower.  Add an embellishment at the center if desired to finish.  Use to decorate gift bags, boxes, etc.

Popular in Europe for many years, Rinea has brought double-sided paper foil to the US.  Not just for paper crafts, the foil can be used for a wide variety of projects. You can find more ideas here on the blog
